Second Cousin Lydia (actually, I think she's third cousin but Tim believes that anything past first cousin is second cousin) tagged Finley to tell you 10 things you may not know about him. You can see Lydia on her blog at http://threelittleprincesses.blogspot.com/.
1. Tim picked his name out. I was a little skeptical at first but it seemed that the more some people didn't like it, I liked it more!
2. He is Finn for short. Other nicknames include Finners, the Finn Man, and Finnegan.
3. His middle name is Gene...named after his Great Grandpas Eugene Hermsen and Eugene Schneider.
4. If we didn't choose Finley Gene, he would have been named Carter William.
5. His favorite face to make is the "cheerio" face where he makes his mouth look like a cheerio.
6. He's an extremely loud and messy eater. But you wouldn't know it; the kid also doesn't gain weight. He is only 8 ounces over his birth weight which he should be about 1 1/2 lbs over his birth weight by now. Mom must have given him a complex while in the womb because we all thought he was going to be enormous.
7. He looks A LOT like Daddy. We dug out Tim's baby pictures and if we didn't know any better you'd think it was Finn.
8. Finley has to have his hands touching and by his face at all times! Don't dare to wrap them up in a blanket!
9. Finely's favorite place to go is the Dog Park with his big sister Molly.
10. He is just starting to focus in on things and loves to look at the cute baby in the mirror starring back at him!
Well, thank you Lydia for tagging us! We quite enjoyed it!
Since Lydia already tagged Sophie and her Mama Leah, Finley would like to tag big 2nd cousin Abby!

Was the Easter Bunny good to you?
Finn's first trip to the Dog Park
As many of you know, we frequent the local (and not so local) dog parks quite often. Molly meets lots of friends there and it's always exciting when she sees one of her day care buddies. Molly believes the dog park is her's and the other dogs are just visiting. Finn has been there twice now, experiencing it from inside my coat in the carrier all bundled in blankets! He finds the barking of the dogs quite soothing. Before we know it, he will be the one throwing the ball for the dogs to fetch. We actually may run the risk that Finn may grow up thinking he's a dog than a human!

REMEMBER WHEN MOLLY WAS A BABY....
Molly was also 8lbs when we brought her home....just a bit more hairy than Finn!
Molly with her sister as 25 days old.
Molly with her Mom (Nestle) and her sister and 4 brothers. Molly is the one climbing on her Mom....imagine that!

Molly and Libby
Molly is doing very well with Finn, she hasn't shown any signs of jealousy. It is however just starting to sink in that this change is for good and he's not going away. She's a little depressed over this and starting to challenge her rank in the pack but we are all working through it and soon it will be Spring and things will be easier for everyone!

"OPEN HOUSE" TO MEET FINLEY
Finley sure is one lucky baby to be born into such a kind and generous family. On Saturday, Grandma Terrie and Grandpa Gerry hosted an "Open House" for our family to come and meet their Grandbaby. He sure was the hit of the party. Many people came to love him and give him kisses and welcome him into our family. He is the 44th member of the Hermsen family since his Great Grandpa Gene. Molly had a great time seeing the family as well!
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE WONDERFUL AND THOUGHTFUL GIFTS! IT WAS VERY GENEROUS OF YOU!

FINLEY GENE HAS ARRIVED!
I'm stealing ideas shamelessly from my cousins and decided to create a blog too to keep everyone up to date with our growing family's activities. We now have increased from 2 humans and one brown dog to 3 humans and one brown dog! That's right! Finley Gene arrived (against his wishes) at 10:51pm Monday, February 25th, weighed 8lbs 13oz and was 21 inches long. Baby Finn joined the world via C-section after many efforts of inducing and water breaking with little to no dilation. Mom didn't have much labor pains so all in all, the whole event was pretty painless. He has a full head of hair and is absolutely perfect. He looks like Daddy but has Momma's nose and lips.

We also have a beautiful brown dog named Molly Mae. She was pretty apprehensive around Baby Finn in the beginning but she is really warming up to him now.
